Parents: Bob and Robbie Waynik

High School: Corinth Holders

Position: Shortstop

Why Methodist? “I liked the fact that they offered a good route to a P.A. (physician’s assistant) program with their microbiology field. And there’s a very good baseball program there.”

Also Considered: Peace, Averett, N.C. Wesleyan, Barton

Major: Microbiology

Notable: Brock is debating joining the Monarch soccer squad, as well, as a walk on. He would likely be a welcome addition after scoring nearly 30 goals in helping Corinth Holders reach the fourth round of the state 3A playoffs as a senior. … In baseball, Waynik helped the Pirates show great improvement this spring, advancing to the second round of the 2A playoffs after a pair of solid seasons that didn’t always lead to a lot of wins. He led Corinth Holders in batting and fielding percentage. “The team really came together this year,” he said. “It was great to break our four-win string of seasons.” … He knows improved strength will be a key for succeeding in college baseball.

Corinth Holders baseball coach Jeff Parker: “He really did a great job up the middle for us on defense. And he was our leading hitter, so we’re really going to miss him at the plate and in the field. He will be hard to replace.”
