Arts classes

The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled the following classes at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center, 600 E. Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield.

Pottery Camp – 9 a.m. to noon July 15-18 for young people ages 8-15. The cost is $85 for Smithfield residents and $100 for nonresidents. The materials fee is $20.

Pour It and Paint – 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 29, for adults 21 and older. Bring wine and paint a piece of art. The cost is $25. Registration in advance is required.

Johnston Chorale seeking voices

The Johnston County Chorale welcomes new voices. Starting Aug. 26, rehearsals will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays at First Baptist Church, 202 S. Fourth St., Smithfield. Auditions are not required, and members perform in the chorale’s Christmas, spring and Broadway concerts. For more information, email sjernigan003@nc.rr.com.

Art on display

Works by Rose Stites are on display this month at the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield, 305 E. Market St., Smithfield.

Music for lunch

“Music for the Lunch Bunch” will continue at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at First Presbyterian Church, 215 S. Third St., Smithfield. Pianist Jonathan Levin will perform.

Drama group seeking members

A drama group is seeking members in the Clayton area. All levels of interest and experience are welcome. The group will collaborate on pieces by playwrights such as Arthur Miller, Clifford Odets, Eugene O’Neill, Henrik Ibsen and more.

Army band at JCC

The 440th Army Band will play an Independence Day concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium at Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield.

JCC will accept donations for the show, with proceeds going to performing arts at the college.
