College Softball Signing: Taylor Adams

July 15, 2013

Taylor Adams signs with Catawba College with her parents (seated) Ronnie and Shelia Adams, (standing, from left) North Johnston principal Tim Harrell, head softball coach George Daniels, Amber Adams (sister) and assistant coaches Chris Batten and Crissy Benson.

Parents: Ronnie and Shelia Adams

High School: North Johnston

Position: Catcher

Why Catawba? “Out of all the places, I thought this was the best fit for me. It’s not too far from home and I like the direction the program’s going as well.”

Also Considered: East Carolina UNC Greensboro, Mars Hill

Plans to Major In: Athletic Training/Physical Therapy

Notable: Taylor was a three-year starter at catcher and third base for North Johnston, helping the Panthers make deep playoff runs in each of the past three seasons. “I’ll remember the friendships and all of our accomplishments,” she said. “We didn’t get what we ultimately wanted (a state championship) but we still have a lot to be proud of.” … She hit .400 or better in three of her four seasons at North, including a .406 batting average with 24 RBIs as a senior. Her career on-base percentage was over .500. … She wants to improve her mental approach and her speed at the college level.
