Manicurist class begins July 29
Johnston Community College will offer a manicurist class July 29-Dec. 12.
The class will meet from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday in Room C2019 on the main campus in Smithfield. Students will receive instruction and clinical practice in manicuring, application, and maintenance of artificial nails and pedicuring.

Keyboarding – 9 a.m.-noon Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 27-Sept. 19, in Room 4 of the Cleveland Center. A second class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 24-Oct. 30, in Room A164 in the Elsee Building on the Smithfield campus. Learn the keyboard through touch typing. The cost is $73.
Beginner’s Guide to Computers – 6-8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 19-Sept. 16, in Room A164 of the Elsee Building. A second class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 10-Oct. 3, in the Kenly Center. The cost is $73. Beginner students will learn computer operations in a Windows-based system, including computer terminology, basic file management, word processing, basic Internet and email.
Microsoft Excel 2010 for Beginners – 9 a.m.-noon Fridays, Aug. 23-Oct. 11, in Room A164 of the Elsee Building. The cost is $73. Students will learn the basic functions and features of Excel 2010, a spreadsheet program.
MS PowerPoint 2010 – 9 a.m.- noon Fridays, Oct. 25-Nov. 15, in Room A164 of the Elsee Building. The cost is $73. Students will learn how to create professional presentations.
Office Applications Certificate – 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 20-Nov. 21, at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. A second class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays and Fridays, Sept. 9-Nov. 15, in Room A164 at the Elsee Building. The cost is $185. The course will provide comprehensive instruction in MS Word 2010, MS Excel 2010 and MS PowerPoint 2010.
Human Services Certificate – 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept.10-Oct. 24, at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center. The cost is $130. Students will learn the skills needed for an entry-level job in human services.
