In “Off Duty,” the Smithfield Herald asks community leaders about their interests – what they’re reading, what they’re listening to, what they’re watching.
The feature ran from 2011 to 2012 before taking a hiatus. It’s back, starting with County Commissioner Chad Stewart.
Stewart was appointed to the Johnston County Board of Commissioners earlier this after the death of his father, longtime commissioner Wade Stewart, who died unexpectedly in January. He is finishing his father’s term, which ends in 2014.
Stewart, who lives in Four Oaks, is the owner 301 Service Center and co-owner of Holt Lake Properties. He serves on the board of the Four Oaks Elementary School Parent Teacher Association and coaches youth sports in Four Oaks.
Stewart graduated from South Johnston High School and then served in the Navy for four years. After coming home, he attended Johnston Community College and Campbell University, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1998.
Stewart and his wife, Ursula, have three boys, ages 5, 7 and 9.
