Fall events

Plates of barbecued chicken will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at First Christian Church, 1001 S. Crescent Drive, Smithfield. Plates are $7 each, with takeout available. An auction will begin at 7 p.m.

Oktoberfest is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2920 N.C. 42 West, Clayton. The celebration will feature a bounce house, live music, face painting and games. Brats and sauerkraut will be available for $10. Proceeds will go to church youth programs and to I-Choose Pregnancy Support Services in Clayton.

A fall festival will get underway at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church, 407 E. Church St., Benson. The festival will feature Trunk or Treat, games with prizes, inflatables, door prizes and free food. A grill-off, cupcake wars and pumpkin-carving competitions will also be held.

A fall festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Benson United Methodist Church, 205 W. Church St., Benson. Plates of barbecued chicken and pork, coleslaw, potatoes, hushpuppies and dessert will be sold for $7. Takeout will be available. A country store will offer homemade items, including cookies. An auction will start at 7 p.m.

Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church will hold its annual Harvest Sale Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Pomona-Creech Community Building on Brogden Road east of Smithfield. The church will serve a meal at 6 p.m. An auction will follow at 7.

Through Oct. 30, Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church is selling pumpkins at 724 N. Bright Leaf Blvd. in Smithfield. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays.

Youth events, programs

Trunk or Treat is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Believers Baptist Church, 100 Southerland Road, Clayton. The event will feature games, candy, inflatables, hot dogs and drinks. For more information, call 919-255-0629.

A children’s “Holyweenie Roast” is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Sharon Baptist Church, 116 Britt St., Smithfield. Costumes and parents are welcome. For more information, call 919-934-8845.

Trunk or Treat is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Wilson’s Mills Christian Church, 179 Fire Department Road, Wilson’s Mills. The evening will begin with a short worship service. Food and crafts will follow in the fellowship hall at 6 p.m. Afterward, treats will be available in the parking lot. Costumes are welcome, but no scary ones.

Awana, a program designed to develop spiritually-strong children, meets from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Wednesdays at Bethesda Baptist Church, 4967 U.S. 70 Business West between Clayton and Smithfield. Music

Gospel Explosion,” a day of praise and worship music, is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Perpetual Covenant Fellowship Ministries, 800 McKay Place, Lillington. The church invites choirs, Christian music groups and soloists to perform. For more information, call 919-793-8495.

Sounds of Hope, a gospel music group, will perform at 6 p.m Sunday, Oct. 27, at Smithfield First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1000 Wilsons Mills Road, Smithfield. Admission is free; the church will collect an offering for the group.

A gospel-music extravaganza is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Cornerstone Gospel Tabernacle, 4369 N.C. 70 West, Princeton. The Wade Sisters of Goldsboro and other groups will perform. Admission is free. For more information, call 919-731-9818.

Programs, services

A homecoming service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Thanksgiving Baptist Church, 6701 N.C. 42 east of Clayton. The Rev. Neil Brantley will speak.

A weekend revival and conference will take place Oct. 25-27 at Lee’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, 4154 N.C. 96 South, Four Oaks. The weekend will focus on prayer. Starting times are 7:30 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Lunch will follow the Sunday service. For more information, call Kim Stanley at 919-963-2123.

Bishop R.B. Mott, pastor of Small Chapel Church near Newton Grove, will speak at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Barnes Chapel Church, 108 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro. He will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Pisgah Top Church, 171 Lamm Ave., Erwin.

Revival services are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, Oct. 27-30, at New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church on N.C. 222 west of Kenly.

A homecoming service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Burnell Baptist Church, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks. A covered-dish meal will follow in the Family Life Center. Through Nov. 3, Little Creek Fellowship is offering “New Beginnings,” a biblical perspective on current events, at 7 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Child care is available. The church is at 2585 Little Creek Church Road, Clayton.

Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church in Selma has resumed its Mother’s Morning Out program. The free program cares for children ages 3-5 while their moms run errands, clean house, go to appointments or simply take a break. It offers activities, stories, music, playtime and Bible lessons. Churches seeks vendors

Mount Zion United Methodist Church in the Cleveland community is seeking vendors for its annual Christmas Bazaar, which is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. The church is seeking sellers of artwork, jewelry, crafts and holiday gifts. A snack bar will offer breakfast and lunch items, drinks, snacks and desserts.
