Youth basketball registration ends Nov. 8

Youth basketball registration with the Selma Parks and Recreation Department is open until Nov. 8. Leagues are available for boys ages 4-18 and girls ages 4-15 (as of Nov. 1, 2014). Teams will practice once a week and play games on Friday evenings and Saturdays. Practices and games will take place at Selma Elementary School, Selma Middle School or Harrison Gymnasium. The fee is $25 for town of Selma residents and $30 for others. Register at the Parks Department office or online.

Harrison Gym open play

Practice your moves, meet your friends, stay active and spend time with your family at the Harrison Gymnasium. Drop in for basketball with no reservations necessary. The court is available on a first-come, first-served basis. You must sign in each time and present a photo ID. Play for ages 18 and over is available 4-6 p.m. Saturdays. The cost is $3 per person. Play for ages 55 and older is available 6-8 p.m. Fridays. There is no charge for the Friday session.

Aquatics, fitness programs

The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of aquatics classes and fitness programs. Visit SRAConline.com or call 934-1408 for more information. Some of the fitness offerings include Cycling, Zumba, Hip Hop Hustle, Piyo, Turbo Kick, Total Body, Tai Chi, Inferno Cycle, P90X and Cycle Fusion. For more information regarding classes, please call 934-1408. All classes are roughly an hour long.
