Vietnam War project needs assistance

In November 2012, ground broke for the Vietnam Memorial Fund’s “Faces on the Wall” project in Washington, D.C. This memorial will feature photos of the Vietnam War dead. Here in North Carolina, I, my brother and one more volunteer are trying to locate every one of their gravestones and a photo of each one too. We started with 1,610 names, it ballooned to 1,760, but we have it whittled down to 174. We need your help.

We need to get this information out to your readers so they can look at the names, and hopefully, they might recognize one and send us the photo. This has been done in New Mexico, Massachusetts and California, to name a few, and it has been very successful.

Johnston County has three veterans unaccounted for. Their names are Eddie Ray Watmon (perhaps Watson) of Micro, James Ray Knight of the Beulahtown community and Thomas McCray of Kenly. We haven’t been able to locate their families.
