Seventh grade free baseball clinic set

The 2014 Narron Family Free Baseball Clinic for 7th Graders will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, at Smithfield-Selma High School. The seventh grade marks the first year players can try out for their school teams and is the dividing point between youth leagues and higher skill levels of amateur play. This free clinic with hitting, pitching, catching, base running and infield and outfield play drills will show players the skills they need to hone to improve their chances of advancing in the game.

The camp staff, led by Milwaukee Brewers hitting coach Johnny Narron and Brewers bench coach Jerry Narron is scheduled to include Tampa Bay pitcher Chris Archer, Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jerry Sands, Brewers pitcher Rob Wooten, ECU outfielder Dylan Brown, Nationals pitching coach Sam Narron and Richard “Rooster” Narron among others. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the SSS gym and players should bring their baseball equipment and indoor and outdoor shoes.
