Pottery for teens

A pottery class for teens ages 13-17 will begin Jan. 16 at the Clayton Community Center, 715 Amelia Church Road. The class will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursdays for six weeks. The cost is $65 for Clayton residents and $80 for nonresidents. For more information, call the Clayton Parks and Recreation Department at 919-553-1550.

‘Pour It and Paint’

The next “Pour It and Paint” is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center, 600 Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield. Bring a bottle of wine and paint in a relaxing setting. The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department provides the paint and canvas. The cost is $35, and the deadline to register is Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Art classes for children, adults

The Clayton Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled the following classes. For more information, call 919-553-1550.

After-School Art – The six-week class, for ages 5-7, will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays starting Jan. 21. The class will offer lessons in color mixing, shapes and design. The cost is $45 for Clayton residents and $60 for nonresidents.

After-School Art – The six-week class, for ages 8-10, will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays starting Jan. 22. Children will paint, cut, sculpt, draw and print. The cost is $45 for Clayton residents and $60 for nonresidents.

After-School Art – The six-week class, for ages 11-13, will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursdays starting Jan. 23. Children will explore color theory, texture, lines and composition. The cost is $45 for Clayton residents and $60 for nonresidents.

Adult Drawing – The six-week class will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays starting Jan. 21. Students will learn the fundamentals of composition, shading, shapes, lines and perspective using a variety of drawing media. The cost is $45 for Clayton residents and $60 for nonresidents.

Adult Painting – The six-week class will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays starting Jan. 23. Students will learn about color theory, perspective and composition while painting in acrylics and watercolor. The cost is $45 for Clayton residents and $60 for nonresidents.
