Rams recognize their best

Cleveland High School recognized its fall sports teams for their season of work and handed out individual team awards earlier this month.

The conference championship football team handed out most valuable player awards to Isaac Martin for offense and Sterling Johnson for defense.

Martin was also selected to the Shrine Bowl team for North Carolina.

Other football awards went to Aaron Farmer (best skill player), Xavier Baker (best offensive lineman), Dylan Caldwell (defensive box award), Delaney Ahola (defensive skill award) and Adam Kurtz (coach’s award).

Girls golf awards went to Victoria Dixon (MVP), Bailey Holloman (most improved) and Amber Reese (coach’s award).

The boys soccer team named Fed Planchon as its MVP and Jorges Gonzales received the coach’s award. Cody Raynor was named the Rams’ most improved soccer player.

Marina Roe was the best offensive player award winner for volleyball, while Courtney Morris received best defensive player honors. Hope Medlin was named the coach’s award winner.

Cross country awards went to Victoria Shule (girls MVP), Erica Michael (girls most improved), Lateja Fitzgerald (girls coach’s award), Gabe Dersham (boys MVP), Cameron Standley (boys most improved) and Noah Pipes (boys coach’s award).

The girls tennis team named Victoria Dixon as its MVP; Bailey Holloman was the most improved player. Amber Reese picked up the coach’s award.

Junior varsity awards were presented to Kaitlyn McCracken (volleyball MVP), Celia Coats (volleyball coach’s award), Joseph Martinez (soccer MVP), Nick Luso (soccer coach’s award), Joseph James (football offensive MVP) and Chris Cody (football defensive MVP).
