Gerrodd Raynor off to N.C. Wesleyan football squad

February 7, 2014

Gerrodd Raynor signs with N.C. Wesleyan with (seated, from left) his sister, Tasia Harrington, his dad, Rodd Raynor and his mother, Tywana Raynor, (standing, from left) South Johnston athletic director Keith Durham, assistant football coach Derek Micke, head coach Hunter Jenks and principal Eddie Price.

Parents: Rodd and Tywana Raynor

High School: South Johnston

Height, Weight: 5-foot-7, 170 pounds

Position: Slot Receiver

Why Wesleyan? “They have a really good sports medicine program and offered me the chance to play at the next level.”

Also Considered: Bluefield, Chowan

Major: Sports Medicine

Notable: Gerrodd has played varsity football for South all four seasons, taking advantage of the eight-quarter rule during his freshman year to see some time on Friday nights. … He likes the opportunity that the slot receiver position gives for a smaller receiver to make big plays. … “I’d like to improve my 40 time and my timing,” he said. “That will just give me a chance to make more plays.”
