Fundraisers

Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church will sell plates of barbecued chicken from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Pomona Creech Community Building on Brogden Road five miles east of Smithfield. The cost is $7 per plate.

A buffet breakfast is scheduled from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Holly Grove Advent Christian Church, 2050 Holly Grove Church Road, Benson. The menu will feature country ham and sausage.

Gospel music

The gospel music group Highway Revival will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Burnell Baptist Church, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks.

Golf tournament

A golf tournament to benefit Baker’s Chapel Ministries will tee off at 1 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the Cardinal Country Club, 363 Parrish Memorial Road, Selma. Registration will begin at noon; a reception will follow the completion of play. For more information, call Elaine Mozingo at 919-989-7615.

Programs, services

A revival for the healing of HIV and AIDS is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 2-6 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 403 Caswell St., Smithfield. The following will speak: Pastor Christine Allen, the Rev. DeAshley Curtis, the Rev. Sterling Freeman, the Rev. Roosevelt Wiley and Dr. J.B. Woodhouse.

A World Day of Prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, March 7, at First Presbyterian Church, 215 S. Third St., Smithfield. The theme is “Streams in the Desert – Egypt.” Refreshments with “A Taste of Egypt” will follow.

Evangelist Hattie Lofton of Smithfield will speak during a women’s conference at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Mt. Pisgah Harnett Original Free Will Baptist Church, 145 Prospect Road, Erwin.

A missions service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Hickory Grove Disciples of Christ Church, 5260 Devil’s Racetrack Road, Four Oaks. Apostle Hattie Stancil will speak. Those attending are asked to bring a canned food item.

Brothers Sammy and Bruce Frye will speak and perform at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28, 7 p.m. March 1 and 11 a.m. March 2 at Lee’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, 4154 N.C. 96, Four Oaks.

“March on Mission,” a missionary service, is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Hickory Grove Disciples of Christ Church, 5260 Devil’s Racetrack Road, Four Oaks. Apostle Hattie Stancil will speak. Those attending are asked to bring canned goods.

A Black History Month program is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2861 Brogden Road, Smithfield.

Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church has added a Sunday evening worship service. It’s at 6 p.m. at the church, 112 E. Blanche St., Pine Level. For more information, call 919-965-3545.

Good Samaritan United Church of Christ has begun meeting at Kid’s Clubhouse, 72 Coats Commercial Drive in the Cleveland community. Joyful Noise, a service for families with young children, meets at 9 a.m. A fellowship hour follows. A traditional worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call the Rev.
