Lanie Margaret Bizzell

Lanie Margaret Bizzell (16) beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece will be greatly missed by all those she loved. Lanie was an instant friend to everyone she met and was full of joy which she generously shared with others.

Lanie was an active member in the United Methodist Youth at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church. At a recent Chrysalis session, she felt the love of God drawing her into ministry. Because of her love of others and her faith, Lanie was discerning a call to be a hospital chaplain. Lanie assisted with Vacation Bible School, Children’s Church and children’s Sunday School at Horne Memorial UMC.

Lanie loved to sing and play piano, and she was beginning to compose her own songs. She started dance at the age of 2 and was continuing with this love she shared with her mother.

Lanie attended Middle College at Johnston Community College. Prior to being accepted to JCC, Lanie attended Corinth Holder High School where she was the Secretary for the FFA and she also established the Blue Hearts Club to develop awareness for her peers of human trafficking following a Global Vision Youth trip. While at CHHS, she was a member of the National Honor Society.

For many years, Lanie volunteered at Reins from Above, a therapeutic horseback riding center.

A Bible verse of great inspiration to Lanie was Philippians 4:6. “Do not worry about anything but pray and ask God for everything you need.”

Lanie is the daughter of Greg and Gwen Bizzell of Selma and the sister of David. Also surviving are grandmother Pat Proctor of Selma; Grandparents Bill and Phyllis Bizzell of Asheboro; Aunt Kinzie and Uncle Richard Wyche and cousins, Jackie and Sydney, of Apex; Aunt Joan and Uncle Mike Mizelle of Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Nancy Blackwell Bizzell and her maternal grandfather David Proctor.

The family will accept visitors at Horne United Methodist Church in Clayton on Tuesday, March 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The service of celebration for Lanie will be held at Horne United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 5 at 4:30.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund, Lanie’s Love, for Methodist Youth Conference Events. Donations can be made to Horne Memorial United Methodist Church Memorial Fund with a notation in memo line for Lanie’s Love.
