Health fair Friday

“Spring into Good Health,” a health fair and wellness expo, is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 28, in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church, 415 Main St., Four Oaks. The fair will offer blood-pressure, blood-sugar, hearing and vision screenings; body mass index measurements, dental appointments, massages, information booths and CPR demonstrations. Rocky Hock Playhouse will present “God So Loved,” an Easter drama, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, 652 Swift Creek Road near Wilson’s Mills. An Easter celebration is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Archer Lodge Community Center and White Oak Baptist Church. Through April 9, midweek Lenten services are scheduled for noon Wednesdays in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church at the corner of South Third and Church streets in Smithfield.

Bethesda Baptist Church will hold an Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, at Wilson Farm, 5494 Wilson’s Mills Road near Wilson’s Mills.


New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church will hold a yard sale with tractor show at 6 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at Carolina Furniture Factory Outlet, 15590 Hobbton Highway, Newton Grove. The church’s youth will sell sausage biscuits, hot dogs and homemade ice cream. A tractor parade will begin at 1 p.m. For more information, call 252-885-7234.

A yard sale is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Asbury United Methodist Church on South Bright Leaf Boulevard in Smithfield. Hot dogs will be available.

Plates of barbecued pork will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, in the parking area at Affordable Auto Repair at the corner of Lee Court and N.C. 42 West in Clayton. The cost is $7 per plate and includes barbecue, slaw, green beans, roll and dessert. Proceeds will go to Grace Episcopal Mission. For advance orders, call 991-553-2810.

Bingo play with dinner will get under way at 6 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Johnston Memorial Church, 8280 N.C. 50 in the McGee’s Crossroads community. For adults, the cost is $15 for a hot dog supper and two bingo cards. Children ages 6-11 can play for $10. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. For more information, call 919-894-3688.

A fish fry is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 28, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 4057 U.C. 70 Business West between Smithfield and Clayton. The cost is $8 and includes fried fish, boiled potatoes, hush puppies, coleslaw, dessert and drink.

Gospel music

The Sounds of Hope will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Smithfield First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1000 Wilson’s Mills Road, Smithfield. Admission is free; the church will collect an offering for the group.

The Resurrection Quartet will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Baker's Chapel Church, 2421 Baker's Chapel Road, Smithfield.

Church launching preschool

For young people

A youth choir workshop is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Bentonville Disciples of Christ Church, 8566 Devil’s Racetrack Road, Four Oaks.
