Easter

An Easter egg hunt for children 10 and younger is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Wilson’s Mills Christian Church, 179 Fire Department Road, Wilson’s Mills. The church will serve refreshments. The rain date is April 12.

Rocky Hock Playhouse will present “God So Loved,” an Easter drama, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, 652 Swift Creek Road near Wilson’s Mills. Tickets are $18 for adults, $17 for adults 62 and older, $12 for children 12 and younger and $15 for groups of 10 or more. For tickets, call 252-482-4621.

An Easter celebration is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Archer Lodge Community Center and White Oak Baptist Church. Through April 9, midweek Lenten services are scheduled for noon Wednesdays in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church at the corner of South Third and Church streets in Smithfield.

Bethesda Baptist Church will hold an Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, at Wilson Farm, 5494 Wilson’s Mills Road near Wilson’s Mills.

Fundraisers

New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church will hold a yard sale with tractor show at 6 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at Carolina Furniture Factory Outlet, 15590 Hobbton Highway, Newton Grove. The church’s youth will sell sausage biscuits, hot dogs and homemade ice cream. A tractor parade will begin at 1 p.m. For more information, call 252-885-7234.

A yard sale is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Asbury United Methodist Church on South Bright Leaf Boulevard in Smithfield. Hot dogs will be available.

Plates of barbecued pork will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, in the parking area at Affordable Auto Repair at the corner of Lee Court and N.C. 42 West in Clayton. The cost is $7 per plate and includes barbecue, slaw, green beans, roll and dessert. Proceeds will go to Grace Episcopal Mission. For advance orders, call 991-553-2810.

Bingo play with dinner will get under way at 6 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Johnston Memorial Church, 8280 N.C. 50 in the McGee’s Crossroads community. For adults, the cost is $15 for a hot dog supper and two bingo cards. Children ages 6-11 can play for $10. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. For more information, call 919-894-3688.

A yard sale with refreshments is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Fellowship United Methodist Church, 5755 Rains Crossroads Road, Princeton.

Gospel music

The Sounds of Hope will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Smithfield First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1000 Wilson’s Mills Road, Smithfield. Admission is free; the church will collect an offering for the group.

The Resurrection Quartet will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Baker's Chapel Church, 2421 Baker's Chapel Road, Smithfield.

Keeping the Faith will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Friendship Free Will Baptist Church, 758 Friendship Church Road, Middlesex.

Church launching preschool

This fall, Bethesda Baptist Church near Clayton will open WEE Ones, a preschool for children from age 2 to pre-kindergarten. WEE is short for Weekday Early Education. For young people

A talent show for young people ages 12-18 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Wilson’s Mills Elementary School, 4654 Wilson’s Mills Road, Wilson’s Mills. First Missionary Baptist Church in Wilson’s Mills asks attendees to bring a donation of canned goods.

A youth choir workshop is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Bentonville Disciples of Christ Church, 8566 Devil’s Racetrack Road, Four Oaks.
