Co-ed church softball league

Games in the Selma Parks and Recreation Department’s co-ed church softball league will be played Monday, Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings this spring. A double-elimination will be held at the end of the season. The team fee is $375. Register by April 4.

Young champions self-defense

A self-defense course for ages 4-18 will be offered by a certified black belt instructor from Young Champions of America Thursday nights at Harrison Gym in Selma now until June 12. The registration fee is $10 and the class has a weekly fee of $7. Register on-site at 5:45 p.m. for new students.

Aquatics, fitness programs

The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of aquatics classes and fitness programs. Visit SRAConline.com or call 934-1408 for more information. Some of the fitness offerings include Cycling, Zumba, Hip Hop Hustle, Piyo, Turbo Kick, Total Body, Tai Chi, Inferno Cycle, P90X and Cycle Fusion. Spring Break Vacation Sports Camp

The Clayton Community Center will be offering a Spring Break Vacation Sports Camp for beginners, intermediate and slightly advanced athletes from April 14-17, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily. The camp will teach and expose aspiring athletes to a fundamental knowledge of the area’s most popular sports. The camp will also teach the benefits of cross training activities and personal fitness exercises to best prepare young athletes for their spring and summer activities and upcoming sports seasons. Summer Playground Program

The Clayton Parks and Recreation Department’s summer playground program for ages 6-12 will begin June 16 and run through Aug. 15. Camp is open daily from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The program is fun-filled and has an active mix of daily activities, including indoor/outdoor games, arts and crafts, gardening and more. Campers need to bring a lunch and two snacks and drinks daily. Registration for annual family members and residents starts March 3; open registration begins March 31. The cost is $50 per week for annual members/residents and $100 for non-residents/non-members. There is a non-refundable $25 registration fee and a half-week deposit is due to guarantee campers’ attendance per week. Additional siblings can register with a 10 percent discount.
