Five North athletes bring home conference track and field titles

North Johnston brought home five conference championships from the Eastern Plains 2A track and field championships held Wednesday in Washington. The Panther girls team finished fourth in the meet, the boys were fifth.

Tangela Williams had a big day with a conference title in the triple jump with a season’s best jump of 35 feet, nine inches. She was also second in the long jump, the 100-meter dash and the 200. The Panthers’ 1,600 relay girls team won the conference crown as well, while Quasheila Thorne won the 400 in 1:06.07 (another season best).

The boys’ conference champions were Devin Walker in the discus (117-9) and Aaron Kopp in the 300 hurdles (42.05).

North’s Dylan Pinder had a season’s best throw of 11-3 in the wheelchair shot put. He also competed in the 100 and 200 wheelchair events.

North Pitt won the girls team championship and Washington took the boys title.
