Family says thanks

My family and I are grateful to the Smithfield and Four Oaks fire departments and Johnston County 911 operators and emergency responders for the outstanding service they provide.

On the evening of March 6, as we were preparing to retire for the night, we smelled smoke. We realized that an electrical fire had started in an upstairs room. After calling 911, the operator was quick to provide instructions and stayed on the phone until our family was safe and out of the house.

Upon arriving, the skilled firemen quickly identified and extinguished the fire. Before leaving, they made sure that it was safe for us to return. Thanks to the quick and skillful response of the firemen, our home suffered only minor damage. I will be forever grateful to them.

This is a great example of efficient government with compassion for the people. God bless our emergency personnel.
