Program gets boost

Johnston Community College has received renewed funding of $25,000 from the N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission in support of Project Skill-Up.

Through a partnership between the trust fund and the N.C. Community College System, Project Skill-Up provides short-term training leading to employment for individuals adversely affected by changes in the tobacco industry.

At JCC, these funds provide job training opportunities in a number of areas, including teacher assistant and teacher substitute certification, BioWorks, computers, industrial maintenance, nursing assistant certification, culinary training and truck driver education.
