Fundraisers

A yard sale is scheduled from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 7, at Believers Baptist Church, 100 Southerland Road, Clayton. Proceeds will send children to summer camp.

Plates of barbecued chicken will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Hephzibah Baptist Church, 4633 U.S. 70, Princeton. The cost is $7 and includes potatoes, green beans, a roll and dessert. Takeout will be available.

Programs, services

A Men’s Day program is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at New Hill Baptist Church, 2591 Fire Department Road, Clayton. Elder Keith Roberson of Howell Chapel Church will speak.

Dr. Oliver C. Johnson Jr. is celebrating his anniversary as pastor of Sanders Grove Baptist Church on N.C. 210 west of Smithfield. A service in his honor is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, June 1. The Rev. David Goodine, pastor of Victory Ministries, will speak. Lunch will follow.

Starting June 1, Christ Community Church will launch its summer schedule. That’s coffee, juice, fruit and fellowship at 9:45 a.m., morning worship at 10 a.m. and then a potluck lunch and information about upcoming activities. Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church will offer “Saturday Night Alive” at 6 p.m. Saturdays in its fellowship hall at the corner of West Waddell and South Sumner streets in Selma. Through Aug. 30, each Saturday night will offer music and a message.

Vacation Bible School

Fun Day

Sardis Baptist Church will stage Community Fun Day from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Western Town, 494 Bonnie Ave., Smithfield. The day will feature free popcorn, snow cones and hot dogs and music by the Powell Family, Made for Mercy and Country Giddy Up. Bring a lawn chair.

For older adults

The JOY Connection of First Presbyterian Church in Smithfield will meet at noon Sunday, June 1, at the church, 215 S. Third St., Smithfield. The church invites seniors to share a free meal, music and fellowship. For more information, call 919-934-0988.

Gospel music

The King’s Messengers and Legacy will sing at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Everett Chapel Church, 307 Everett Ave., Clayton. Admission is free; the church will collect an offering for the quartets. A hot dog supper is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Eric and Laura Ollis will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Burnell Baptist Church, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks. Admission is free; the church will collect an offering for the group. For more information, call the Rev. Jessie Brock at 919-894-1418.

Heaven’s Way will sing at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Oliver’s Grove Baptist Church, 8715 U.S. 301 South, Four Oaks. Admission is free. The church will hold a silent cake auction, with proceeds going to the ninth annual Vision Walk in honor of Jaylen Stanley, the 8-year-old son of Kelley and Eric Stanley.
