Mom: Lynetta Gunter

High School: West Johnston

Height, Weight: 6-foot-2, 204 pounds

Position: Defensive End

Also Considered: Chowan, Greensboro

Why Wesleyan? “I like the small campus and the coaches really welcomed me when I came to visit.”

Major: Business Management

Notable: Deondre says he will remember the Wildcats’ win over Southeast Raleigh last season most from his playing days at West Johnston. West rolled to a 41-7 victory that night. … He knows he has the frame to add the weight needed to play defensive end at the college level but adding that size without losing the speed will be important. “I want to keep that ability I have to slide my way through and around guys,” he says.
