Fundraisers

Plates of barbecued chicken will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Pine Level United Church on U.S. 70-A in Pine Level. The cost is $7 a plate, with drive-through available.

A pancake and sausage breakfast is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 22, at Discovery Church, 195 N.C. 42 East, Clayton. The church's praise band will perform. Discovery Church will accept donations for the meal, with proceeds supporting its Haiti project.

Ice cream social

An ice cream social is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 1082 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. The evening will offer ice cream and games.

Benefit in Clayton

A benefit for Harbor Inc. is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Mt. Vernon Christian Church, 301 N. Lombard St., Clayton. The program will feature drama, comedy, dance and music. The church will accept donations of personal hygiene items, food, snacks for children, clothing for women and children, and twin-bed items.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 22-26 at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1459 White Memorial Church Road, Willow Spring. Vacation Bible School for children in grades K-5 is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. June 22-26 at First Baptist Church, 411 N. Fayetteveille St., Clayton.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 13-17 at Oakland Presbyterian Church, 8927 Cleveland Road, Clayton. VBS is for children from age 4 to rising fifth-graders. A gospel sing is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Howell’s Chapel Church of Christ, 214 E. Preston St., Selma. The lineup includes God’s Men of Harmony, Tru Prayze and Brother Virtes and the New Spiritual Messengers.

Programs, services

A Men’s Day service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 2017 Galilee Road, Smithfield. The Rev. Argo E. Matthews, pastor of St. Amanda Missionary Baptist Church, will speak, and the men’s chorus from his church will sing.

Revival services are scheduled for 7 p.m. June 25-27 at Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2861 Brogden Road, Smithfield. The following will speak: the Rev. Kenneth Cooper, Wednesday; the Rev. Sterling Thomas, Thursday; and Evangelist Hattie Lofton, Friday.

A praise and worship conference will take place June 19-21 at New Generation Christian Church, 4423 Wilson’s Mills Road, Smithfield. Elder Tonya Oliver of Warsaw will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, and Pastor James Sam of Clayton will speak at 7 p.m. Friday. Here is Saturday’s conference schedule: 8:30 a.m., registration; workshops, 9 a.m.; lunch, noon; mass choir rehearsal, 1 p.m.; concert, 6 p.m. The cost is $15 per person. A tent revival is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. June 25-27 at Smith-Collins Park on East Lee Street in Smithfield.

Super Sunday Nights are under way at Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church, 4440 Pine Grove Road, Angier. Through August, every Sunday evening will feature special music services. Christ Community Church has moved to its summer schedule. Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church offers “Saturday Night Alive” at 6 p.m. Saturdays in its fellowship hall at the corner of West Waddell and South Sumner streets in Selma. Through Aug. 30, each Saturday night will offer music and a message.
