Singing Convention returns June 20-22

The 94th State Annual Singing Convention will be held June 20-22 in the Singing Grove on East Main Street in Benson.

Karen Peck and New River, the Saturday night host group, will perform at 7 p.m. The Harvesters Quartet, the Sunday afternoon host group, will take the stage at 3 p.m. Many other singers will appear during the weekend. The following will perform 30-minute concerts starting at 7 p.m. Friday: The Dunns, The Hinshaw Family, Fortress, Them 4 Him, Carroll Cooke and Determined, and The Griffins. There will be no competition Friday night. Informal singing begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and continues daily.

The Singing Convention welcomes and encourages all groups to sing in the contest and talent search. Competition is Both Saturday and Sunday with groups including senior choirs, duets, trios, quartets, family groups and juniors competing for trophies starting at 2 p.m.

Groups entering competition must sing on both days to be eligible for trophies. The song selection for Sunday must be different from the selection for Saturday. Scores for both days will be used in determining the winners. The awards ceremony will be Sunday afternoon following The Harvesters Quartet concert.

Groups wishing to sing in competition should fill out a registration form in the Singing Grove office by 1 p.m. June 21. Entering the competition is free.
