Summertime fun

Community Fun Day is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Barbourtown Church of God, 502 Zacks’s Mill Road, Benson. The day will feature pony rides, gospel music, water slides, vendors, a yard sale, cornhole and food, including baked goods. Bring a lawn chair for the music and a town for the water slides. A pancake and sausage breakfast is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 22, at Discovery Church, 195 N.C. 42 East, Clayton. The church's praise band will perform. Discovery Church will accept donations for the meal, with proceeds supporting its Haiti project.

A benefit for Harbor Inc. is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Mt. Vernon Christian Church, 301 N. Lombard St., Clayton. The program will feature drama, comedy, dance and music. The church will accept donations of personal hygiene items, food, snacks for children, clothing for women and children, and twin-bed items.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 22-26 at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1459 White Memorial Church Road, Willow Spring. The church will serve a light supper nightly. To register, go to, call 919-639-9973 or register in person at 5 p.m. June 22.

Vacation Bible School for children in grades K-5 is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. June 22-26 at First Baptist Church, 411 N. Fayetteville St., Clayton.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 13-17 at Oakland Presbyterian Church, 8927 Cleveland Road, Clayton. VBS is for children from age 4 to rising fifth-graders. Also, the church will offer a Bible study for adults. A nursery/preschool class will be available. Register by July 4 by calling 919-934-5476.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 23-27 at Pisgah Baptist Church, 3689 N.C. 210, Smithfield. VBS will close that Friday with a pizza party and commencement.

A gospel sing is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Howell’s Chapel Church of Christ, 214 E. Preston St., Selma. The lineup includes God’s Men of Harmony, Tru Prayze and Brother Virtes and the New Spiritual Messengers.

Programs, services

A Men’s Day service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 2017 Galilee Road, Smithfield. The Rev. Argo E. Matthews, pastor of St. Amanda Missionary Baptist Church, will speak, and the men’s chorus from his church will sing.

Revival services are scheduled for 7 p.m. June 25-27 at Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2861 Brogden Road, Smithfield. The following will speak: the Rev. Kenneth Cooper, Wednesday; the Rev. Sterling Thomas, Thursday; and Evangelist Hattie Lofton, Friday.

A tent revival is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. June 25-27 at Smith-Collins Park on East Lee Street in Smithfield.

Christ Community Church has moved to its summer schedule. That’s coffee, juice, fruit and fellowship at 9:45 a.m., morning worship at 10 a.m. and then a potluck lunch and information about upcoming activities.
