Summertime fun

Community Fun Day is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Barbourtown Church of God, 502 Zacks’s Mill Road, Benson. The day will feature pony rides, gospel music, water slides, vendors, a yard sale, cornhole and food, including baked goods. Bring a lawn chair for the music and a towel for the water slides. Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School for all ages is scheduled from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. July 7-11 at Antioch Baptist Church on N.C. 39 north of Selma. The week will feature Bible stories and games.

Vacation Bible School for all ages is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 at New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 5312 Meadowbrook Road in the Meadow community.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 13-17 at Oakland Presbyterian Church, 8927 Cleveland Road, Clayton. VBS is for children from age 4 to rising fifth-graders. Also, the church will offer a Bible study for adults. A nursery/preschool class will be available. Register by July 4 by calling 919-934-5476.

Programs, services

The 25th annual Women’s Holy Convention will be held July 10-13 at Mt. Calvary Holiness Church of Deliverance, 114 Lakeview Drive, Four Oaks. The following will speak: Jeanette Wells of Faith Deliverance Tabernacle in Dunn, 7 p.m. July 10; Pastor Doris McLean of New Jerusalem Bible Church of God in Dunn, 6 p.m. July 11; Janice Allen of Mt. Livingstone United Holy Church, who will lead a workshop, “The Virtuous Woman,” at 1 p.m. July 12; Pastor Mary McLaughlin of Evans Grove Bible Church of God in Maxton, 6 p.m. July 12; and Wilma Hampton of Miracle Temple in Selma, 6 p.m. July 13.

Grace Episcopal Church is offering Communion at 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 16. The church is at 111 Lee Court in Clayton. That's off of N.C. 42 West. For more information, call 919-553-2810 or visit graceepiscopalclayton.dionc.org.

Super Sunday Nights are under way at Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church, 4440 Piney Grove Road, Angier. Through August, every Sunday evening will feature special music services. Christ Community Church has moved to its summer schedule. That’s coffee, juice, fruit and fellowship at 9:45 a.m., morning worship at 10 a.m. and then a potluck lunch and information about upcoming activities. Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church offers “Saturday Night Alive” at 6 p.m. Saturdays in its fellowship hall at the corner of West Waddell and South Sumner streets in Selma. Through Aug. 30, each Saturday night will offer music and a message.
