Cans for car wash

A car wash is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at First Christian Church, 1001 S. Crescent Drive, Smithfield. The cost is five or more cans of food, which will go to the Smithfeld Food Pantry.

Pancake supper

A sausage and pancake supper is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. July 11 at New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 5312 Meadowbrook Road in the Meadow community. The cost is $6 per plate.

Summertime fun

Community Fun Day is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Barbourtown Church of God, 502 Zacks’s Mill Road, Benson. The day will feature pony rides, gospel music, water slides, vendors, a yard sale, cornhole and food, including baked goods. Bring a lawn chair for the music and a town for the water slides. Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School for children is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 19 and 9:15 a.m. to noon July 20 at Bethesda Baptist Church, 4967 U.S. 70 Business between Smithfield and Clayton. VBS will feature music, crafts, games, Bible stories and snacks. Registration is available online at bethesdaclayton.com.

Hood’s Grove Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School July 13-18. VBS will kick off at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. It will continue at 6:40 p.m. Monday through Friday. The church is at 677 Hood’s Grove Church Road, Newton Grove. For more information, call 919-894-5977.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. July 21-14 at Progressive Presbyterian Church, 3790 Progressive Church Road, Princeton. Each day will offer games, crafts and snacks. Dan the Animal Man will be there July 23. For more information, call 919-936-2189.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 13-17 at Oakland Presbyterian Church, 8927 Cleveland Road, Clayton. VBS is for children from age 4 to rising fifth-graders. Also, the church will offer a Bible study for adults. A nursery/preschool class will be available. Register by July 4 by calling 919-934-5476.

Programs, services

A Family and Friends Day service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Howell Chapel Church of Christ, 214 E. Preston St., Selma. The Rev. Sterling Freeman of First Missionary Baptist Church in Smithfield will speak. The church will serve lunch after the morning worship service.

A Men’s Day service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Mt. Sinai Holy Church on Pine Level-Selma Road near Pine Level. Minister Stephen Williamston of Wake Forest will speak, and a chorus from Smith Temple Baptist Church in Raleigh will sing. The church will service lunch after the morning worship service.

Grace Episcopal Church is offering Communion at 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 16. The church is at 111 Lee Court in Clayton. That's off of N.C. 42 West. For more information, call 919-553-2810 or visit graceepiscopalclayton.dionc.org.

Super Sunday Nights are under way at Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church, 4440 Piney Grove Road, Angier. Through August, every Sunday evening will feature special music services. Christ Community Church has moved to its summer schedule. That’s coffee, juice, fruit and fellowship at 9:45 a.m., morning worship at 10 a.m. and then a potluck lunch and information about upcoming activities.
