Parents: Rose Brown and Dallas Best

High School: Smithfield-Selma

Also Considered: UNC Pembroke, William Peace

Why Pitt CC? “It’s a good fit for me and it’s close to home.”

Major: Sports Management

Notable: Zay averaged 11.6 points and more than five rebounds a game for SSS as a senior, helping the Spartans end their playoff drought. … He’ll shift to more of a perimeter player at Pitt CC so he wants to improve his ballhandling skills this summer. … Among his top memories as a Spartan are helping the team qualify for the playoffs this past season and his first dunk in a game. That came against West Johnston during his junior season. … He’ll join SSS teammate Quantez Leach in Greenville.
