Barbecued chicken

Plates of barbecued chicken will be on sale from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1459 White Memorial Church Road in the McGee’s Crossroads community. The cost is $7 per plate and includes half a chicken, green beans, potatoes, rolls and desserts. A drive-through will be available. A portion of the proceeds will go to hurricane relief. Festival at Antioch

A fall festival is scheduled from 5 till 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Antioch United Methodist Church on U.S. 701 south of Four Oaks. The menu will feature homemade vegetable soup, ham biscuits, grilled cheese sandwiches and shrimp salad. Also, canned goods and baked goods will be for sale.

Edgerton Homecoming

Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church will celebrate homecoming Sunday, Oct. 5. A service of contemporary and traditional worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. The church is at 401 W. Anderson St. in Selma. For more information, call 965-3761.

Plates of barbecue will be on sale from 4 till 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Pauline Baptist Church on Strickland’s Crossroads Road near Four Oaks. The church will accept donations for the meal. Takeout plates will be available.

Breakfast at Pisgah

A buffet breakfast is scheduled from 7:30 till 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Pisgah Baptist Church, 3689 N.C. 210 west of Smithfield. The church will accept donations for the meal.

Harvest Day Oct. 4

Johnston Memorial Church will hold its annual Harvest Day on Saturday, Oct. 4. Chicken and pastry, fried chicken, sweet potatoes, green beans, potatoes and desserts will be available from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. and from 4 till 7 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children. A drive-through will be available. An auction will begin at 7 p.m., and the church will raffle a quilt. Throughout the day, a “country store” will offer cakes, breads, brownies, cookies, crafts and other items. The church is on N.C. 50 about two miles south of McGee’s Crossroads. St. Mary’s Grove

St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 5. Sunday School will begin at 9:45 a.m. The worship service will start at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow. A variety show is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Mitchener Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 911 Blount St., Smithfield. Mime dancers, a praise dance team, the Elliot Family, soloists, poets and choirs will perform. On Sunday, the Rev. Nathaniel Mitchell, a former pastor of Mitchener Memorial, will speak at 3 p.m.

Piney Grove PFWB

A youth revival will be held Oct. 3-5 at Piney Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church on U.S. 701 south of Four Oaks. Services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday.

Pleasant Grove Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 5. The Rev. Steve Morris, a former pastor of the church, will speak at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow the service. Barbour’s Chapel

Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church will celebrate homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 5. A covered-dish lunch in the fellowship hall will follow the 11 a.m. worship hour. Pine Level First United Methodist Church will celebrate homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 5. Former pastor Sandy Schaller will speak during the 11 a.m. worship. Schaller is now pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church in St. Paul. Lunch will follow the service.

Chicken in Pine Level
